The Career Center, located in the Counseling Office, is here for students, assisting them with their post-secondary and career planning by connecting them with various resources and experiences such as job shadows, job search help, lunch & learns, and tours.
Colleges are starting to put their summer program opportunities online. If interested in a specific college these summer programs are a good introduction to the college culture & expectations. If you are interested in a certain career you can do a Google Search - type in the search bar, "High school summer opportunities for (insert career interest)". A variety of options are available. If an opportunity has a fee you can ask for scholarships that might be available.
November 13, 2018, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM -- Military/Military Academy Information Night in the PV library. 9th - 12th grade students from PV & Bettendorf and their families are invited to learn more about military and military academy options. This is a good time to "shop" around and checkout all the options. Please register HERE.
November 14, 2018, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM -- Registered Apprenticeship Fair at Scott Community College's Culinary Building for seniors interested in apprenticeship careers. The event runs from 1-4, however students won't need to be there the entire time. If they don't want to miss school they can attend after class. To attend during school they need to register HERE.
November 16, 2018, 9:00 AM - 2:45 PM -- Arconic's "Student Day: Career Choices" for juniors and seniors interested in Manufacturing-related careers, these can be the traditional skilled trades, engineering, computer, and technical careers. Lunch will be provided. Only 20 students can go. To be accepted pick-up an permission slip from Mrs. Johnson and complete the registration HERE. This event is Full and there is a wait list.
November 28, 2018, 11:30 AM - 1:05 PM -- Allied Health Lunch & Learn - 9th - 12th graders can attend. The careers that will be highlighted can start with a certification or two-year degree. Click HERE to register.
November 29, 2018, 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM -- Exelon Tour - 10th - 12th graders interested in engineering, mechanical, and physics consider attending a tour to Exelon. We will see the control room simulator, talk with professionals and view the VR training Exelon uses. To register click HERE.
December 19, 2018, 11:30 AM - 1:05 PM -- Medical Lunch & Learn - 9th - 12th graders can attend. The careers that will be highlighted will require a Master's or higher. Click HERE to register.
January 30, 2019, 11:30 AM - 1:05 PM -- Visual Arts Lunch & Learn - 9th - 12th graders can attend. Details will be out in the fall.
January 31, 2019, 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM -- Winter ASVAB Testing - location TBD 10th - 12th graders interested in the military, technical (hands-on careers), or wanting to practice testing (math, science and English) are encourage to take the test. Sign-up will be in the Career Center beginning December 17th.
